Summary

An important challenge to be addressed in energy grids is optimizing the production and consumption of energy. For instance, a large number of electric vehicles charging simultaneously can bring a significant energy demand. To avoid grid failures, these vehicles must be able to coordinate their charging schedules such that they optimize the overall consumption of energy in the grid. In the same time, the vehicles must take into account the schedule constraints of their owners such that they are readily charged when they are needed. To this end, the vehicles are endowed with autonomy and social abilities such that they can bootstrap themselves in self-organizing socio-technical networks. The main objective of this internship is then to define and implement a protocol for solving distributed constraint optimization problems in socio-technical networks for smart energy grids.

Expected results
