Abstract

The Web of Things (WoT) extends the Internet of Things with Web technologies to interconnect smart things and build scalable, adaptable, and interoperable applications. Semantic Web contributes to this extension with a set of supporting concepts and techniques such as ontologies and semantic Web services to enables objects addressing, discovery as well as information representation, storage and exchange. In an open and heterogeneous environment like the WoT, a designer of a system is not often able to manage or anticipate the complexity of interactions among things, hence the need for a thing-oriented vision of the Web of Things. Multi-Agents Systems (MAS) provide an attractive solution (approaches, organizational and interaction models, etc.) in order to enable cooperation between things as they allow autonomous behavior and distributed decision-making. We suggest to follow a service-oriented approach where semantic agents use the Web as their (execution) environment.
