Abstract

Software Defined Networking (SDN), Network Function Virtualization (NFV), device programmability are new paradigms that bring agility and low costs to networking. These new paradigms allow for using cloud computing concepts for the network. Moreover, they enable the use of data analytics for decision making and network management. This talk will first discuss some future directions on this subject.

Then the talk will focus on orchestration and allocation of virtual network functions in cloud setting. NFV provides flexibility by virtualizing the network functions and moving them to a virtualization platform. A typical service setup requires the allocation of a graph of virtual network functions (VNFs) considering their linking constraints. We provide a centralised and a distributed optimisation solution for adaptive and dynamic VNF allocation problem.
