Master Internship - Development of a Miniaturized Radioluminescence-Based Dosimeter for Applications in the Nuclear Industry
Host Laboratory: Laboratoire Hubert Curien (UMR CNRS 5516) – MOPERE Group
Industrial Partner: ORANO – OPERA Joint Research Laboratory
Duration: 6 months (February 2026 – July 2026)
Supervision: Dr. Luca Weninger, Pr. Sylvain Girard
Context: Within the framework of the deployment of fiber-based dosimeters for use in the nuclear industry, the MOPERE group of the Laboratoire Hubert Curien is developing new sensor architectures exploiting the radioluminescence of bulk materials and optical fibers. These systems aim to provide real-time and radiation-hardened dosimetry solutions for harsh environments. In collaboration with ORANO, the group participates in the OPERA joint research laboratory, dedicated to the development of optical sensors for monitoring and safety in the nuclear sector. The present internship is part of this collaboration and focuses on the design, fabrication, and testing of a miniaturized dosimeter that measures the radioluminescence of bulk scintillating materials using a silicon photomultiplier (SiPM).
Objectives: The main goal of this internship is to design, manufacture, and characterize a compact dosimeter capable of detecting the radioluminescence signal emitted by irradiated materials. The project combines experimental work (design, prototyping, testing) with data analysis and interpretation.
