master internship openings

    • Internship - Machine learning: Teaching machine fairness

      Start: Spring 2023

      Application deadline: 15th January 2023

Location: Laboratoire Hubert Curien (Université Jean Monnet - UJM, St-Etienne)

This internship will focus on a novel subject: teaching machine fairness. Concerns about the equity and ethics of large language models like ChatGPT have emerged within the machine learning community. While most existing works make the model forget the sensitive attribute (e.g. gender), the objective here is to find a way to teach the model what is fair and what isn’t, in order to be able to more accurately control its decisions.

Interested candidates should send a CV and a cover letter to:

    • Internship - MOLE: Model Optimization from Learning Examples

      Start: Spring 2023

      Application deadline: 15th January 2023

Location: of choice @ Laboratoire Hubert Curien (Université Jean Monnet - UJM, St-Etienne) or @ Laboratoire ERIC (Université Lumière Lyon 2 - Lyon)

This internship aims to contribute to the field of meta-learning by applying the diffusion model to learning-to-learn approaches. While diffusion models have been utilized as meta-trainers, they face limitations, especially in parameter modeling and lacking conditioning during the meta-training stage. This project aims to overcome these limitations.

Interested candidates should send a CV and a cover letter to both:

      • Antoine Gourru, Associate Professor   antoine.gourru @ univ-st-etienne.fr
      • Jairo Cugliari, Associate Professor   jairo.cugliari @ univ-lyon2.fr
