Seminar by Vahid Babaei, Research Group leader at Max Planck Institute for Informatics
Abstract
In his talk, Vahid Babaei will present a part of the research during his PhD thesis at EPFL, for image creation using non-standard inks (e.g. metallic inks). He will specifically talk about novel halftoning algorithms and spectral prediction models developed for this purpose.
'Contoning', a workflow developed in MIT for color 3D printing, taking advantage of the layering ability of 3D printers, will be introduced in the second part of the talk. It will also be shown how this workflow can be extended for spectral reproduction of oil paintings with multilayer, custom ink 3D printing.
